Associate Producer

2K Games Boston (Formerly Irrational Games) is currently looking for a full-time Associate Producer to work closely with the Director of Development, Producers, Designers, Artists, Audio designers, and Programmers to organize and coordinate the game development process. An Associate Producer's number one priority within the development structure is to make sure everyone else has the resources they need to get their job done. You remove the roadblocks and act as the traffic cop to keep the development flowing.

This means a no nonsense approach to problem solving, daily communication with all the members of the team and working in support of the producers in handling management and tasking challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the producers and development director in every aspect of development, from scheduling and management of the internal team to working with outsourcers, outside publishers and licensors
  • Working as a part of the development team with artists, designers, audio designers, and programmers tracking tasks and helping developers stay on schedule
  • Facilitating cross department communications and being a product knowledge base for the entire team
  • Contributing to the production process and helping refine production pipelines.
  • Providing administrative support for the team leads
  • Cultivating a positive and cohesive team, inspiring the cooperation and confidence of others
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience shipping at least one video game title

Producer

2K Boston (formerly Irrational Games) is looking for an experienced Producer to assist with our next AAA game project. This person will assist the Director of Development to manage daily operations. The right candidate will work with a team of producers in providing the daily interdepartmental glue that holds the development team together. Join the team that made the million plus selling BioShock, the highest rated Xbox 360 game ever made (at gamerankings.com) as we set out to raise the bar again.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the production team to organize a project structure that effectively balances the creative and the practical.
  • Work with development director, leads and stakeholders to build a quality-focused, cost-aware project plan (budget, milestones, headcount, schedule)
  • Maintain and update project schedules to reflect current project realities.
  • Clearly communicate tasks and responsibilities to staff and external contractors.
  • Execute risk management strategies.
  • Facilitate communication and cooperation in the project team.
  • Coordinate with team leads and goal-based "strike teams" to triage, prioritize, and delegate project tasks.
  • Inspire, challenge, and grow the team to reach their highest potential.
  • Manage cross-time zone, cross studio development, finding the most graceful solutions to the personal and management challenge of coordinating teams on opposite sides of the world.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum five years experience in the games industry
  • Must have shipped at least 2 AAA titles in as a producer, project lead role, or served on several games in an assistant producer
  • Experience in one of the above roles on a large scale software development project (40+ development staff over 2+ years)
  • Experience shipping console game titles including dealing with manufacturer approval processes
  • Experience managing a multiplayer game development project a major plus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development of great products, both critically and commercially.
  • Understanding of key technical issues involved with console and PC game development
  • Experience with scheduling tools
  • Experience managing a project budget
  • Excellent people skills including the ability to motivate people and inspire their creative talents
  • Experience managing conflict
  • Experience in risk analysis and mitigation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
