This is Your Blog

In my first entry on the 2K Games Blog, I noted that this was a space for us to pull back the curtain on the office and show you what it’s like inside a video game company. And while we have some ideas about things we want to tell you, and think are interesting to read about, I think it makes a lot of sense to ask you what you would most want to see written about on this blog, and by whom.

Before we begin, here are some ground rules: This isn’t a place to talk specifically about upcoming releases or Official Company Business. We already do that in several different spaces (which I’m happy to tell you more about if you are interested!) This blog, however, is your chance to ask the silly, random, or completely off-topic questions about the people and practices that make up this company. Be as general or specific as you’d like -- It’s all fair game.

I’ll be accepting topic suggestions here in comments, on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/2KGames) and through our twitter account (www.twitter.com/2KGames). In the meantime, we’ve got a couple stories stashed away that I think you’ll enjoy.

I like Chicken Nuggets

Well Mlb 2k10 is a good game. But I think it good be wayyy better. The game isnt that realistic. I like the total control and the new things, but it doesnt rain... what is that... unrealistic. And you cant charge the mound and get ejected or fight balls and strikes... If I expect to get Mlb 2k11 it has to be more realistic. 2k8 was good because the mound charging. And 2k9 (I think) was good because there could be rain delays. Well thats my suggestion and I believe if you could add those things it would be like the BEST baseball game ever.

This is incredibly off topic, but does the 2k office have a "specific meal a day" thing? Pastrami Wednesdays, perhaps? ;)

If not, what are the favorite foods around the office? Do you ever all order take out? Are there arguments about what to get?

Maybe I shouldn't read the blog when I'm hungry and then be asked to ask questions. It obviously will lead to food related queries xD

This is about nba 2k11 and what i'd like to see

I think you should be able to control your player after the game. Get interviews from ESPN and other sports places, going places with your team on cut scenes, getting a house car, do TV shows or late night talk shows or go 2 ESPN, have ESPN shows like they use to do for college hoops with NBC sports (Getting the ability to sign contracts endorsements deals etc). U can buy tats, hair, shoes, etc. Every Hooper has to have a nice lady on the side. Basically 2k needs to make this a real life experience of the life of an NBA player. The life on the court & the life off the court... 2k should focus on both of the features..... Do u guys agree?

I'm interested in the marketing department specifically. A day in your life perhaps. How community interaction is done in the company, and what makes marketing games unique, or more specifically marketing at 2K

@lobotomies4free This is a great one - I'll work on it!

Feelings. Opinions. (These two could be harder to do, I understand), Daily stuff, you know, merely anything from broken coffe machines to hiring new faces :o).

I liked the idea Kotaku had with posting pics of desks belonging to devs. Show us where you work (just don't be Jeff 'EA-Shakyhand' Green.

And specifically, I'd like a blogpost done by Jennie Sue!

I would like to know more about your marketing strategies; how campaigns like Something in the Sea were developed and then implemented; why two different campaigns were used for the same game (Splicers Unite had no real tie in with SITS other than the fact that they were both awesome) and how other games may see the same level of marketing. (XCOM already has an ARG, etc) :)

well, if can be anything, i have such a wonderfull idea for a Sandbox game, sadly in my country (Chile, southamerica) the industry of Videogames does not exist at all, at least not at your scale... so, question, how a person like me, can show an idea and may be get a job in a creative department of your company????
