DESIGN THE BIOSHOCK LIMITED EDITION BOX
Yes, you read that correctly. It started with an online petition from a fan on the 2K forums, imploring us to make a BioShock limited edition. 19,692 signatures later, I opened up a poll on the Cult of Rapture asking BioShock devotees what they would like to see in the box.
Now I ask you, what would you like ON the box?
To give you some backstory, this idea began because of a fan in the 2K forums, Rapture_Tourist gave us an awesome idea with his very detailed fan art of a possible BioShock Limited Edition. We loved the feeling of his etched metal casing, and want to run with it. (See his design here.)
So now, for the next two weeks, I’ll be collecting submissions for designs that could go on the front of the BioShock Limited Edition box.
LOWDOWN ON THE CONTEST
We want the best and most badass box art for the BioShock Limited Edition, no holds barred. Anyone in the world over 18 can enter.
As for your design, we're looking for an etched look that is 5-1/2” x 7-1/2” (or 135mm by 190mm for those of you who use the metric system.) It can be embossed, debossed, or anything in between. The sky is the limit in regard to design. Imagine yourself as an artist in Rapture, using a chisel to create your masterpiece. (And, if my ruminations aren't specific enough for you, check here for the official specifications of your design.
When your design is complete, send me an email. We'll be accepting submissions from today, Wednesday, April 18th, until the end of the day on Wednesday, May 2nd.
Please be sure that your design has no text on it, just images (the BioShock Logo is also fair game, but don’t feel like you have to use it. Go nuts with your design.) Include with your entry your full name, address, phone number, and email address. (We’ll need these for contacting you if you win and won’t use this information for any other purpose.)
After all the submissions are collected, I will head up a panel with 2K and Irrational to pick a winner.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
If trying your hand at making the box art for BioShock isn’t enough, all entries will will be displayed on the Cult of Rapture at the end of the contest? And if you win? Heres what you get:
Third Place will receive an exclusive Cult of Rapture tee shirt and a copy of the BioShock Limited Edition for both Xbox™ 360 and PC.
Second Place will receive an official Xbox 360™ faceplate, a Cult of Rapture tee, an exclusive Cult of Rapture download on Xbox Live, and a copy of the BioShock Limited Edition for both Xbox™ 360 and PC.
First Place will get their art on the cover of the BioShock Limited Edition, a copy of the BioShock Limited Edition for both Xbox™ 360 and PC, and an all-expense paid trip from their home anywhere in the world to the BioShock Launch Party in August.
